The Cody Student Council has many events planned for the upcoming weeks.

November 16-November 25: the Student Council is collecting canned goods (any non-perishables) for the Omaha Food Bank. Please send your canned goods along with your student any day between now and Thanksgiving Break. Thank you for your support of the Omaha Food Bank!

November 16-December 9: Cookie Company cookie dough fundraiser. Everyone can sell the cookie dough, and proceeds will go to help purchase additional playground equipment for Cody students.

December 4: MOVIE NIGHT! Last year, the Student Council began it's tradition of movie nights, and our first for this year will be December 4th, from 6-8 pm. We are showing The Polar Express, and selling popcorn, pop, water, and candy during the movie. Please be sure to accompany your child to the movie, as they will not be allowed in without a responsible adult. Proceeds from movie night will go to help defray the cost of the movie license, as well as the cost of concessions. Thank you for your support!

The behavior plan for most 5th grade students is as follows:

Step 1--student receives a verbal warning
Step 2--student writes in the behavior notebook and spends 10 minutes of their recess in the media center
Step 3--student completes a "Think Sheet" and spends all of their recess in the media center
Step 4--student completes a "Think Sheet" in a Buddy Room, spends all recess in the media center, and sits at separate table during lunch time
Step 5--student completes a "Think Sheet" in the office, spends all recess and lunch in the office, and receives an additional consequence from the principal or classroom teacher

Students not returning homework by the due date will also be spending their lunch and recess completing that homework. They will miss their entire recess, even if the homework is completed during lunch or before recess has ended. They will spend the remainder of their time reading a chapter book in the media center or classroom.
